Controversy in the nooks and crannies of the crowdfunding world as comic book (graphic novel) writers for the publisher Dynamite Comics start a work boycott.
The issue started when Dynamite set up a crowdfunding campaign to pay for, according to SyFy-dot-com, an upcoming Vegeance of Vampirella variant cover that features the character Cecil from the indie comic “Cash Grab.”
The project received backing from Comics Gate supporters.
For those that aren’t aware, Comics Gate is allegedly a group that criticizes forced “political correctness” and “diversity” in comic books. They have also been accused of targeted harassment of people of color, women and LGBTQ+ writers and illustrators.
As the pressure mounted from writers of comics like Red Sonja and Bettie Page who Tweeted their non-renewals of contracts with Dynamite, the publisher cancelled the crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.
