Hack Alberta II brings you ShadowImpact 2025: In today’s hyper-connected world, the most devastating threats are often the ones we don’t see coming (like the recent Powerschool breach). Hidden actors, dark web markets, and covert cyber campaigns create a threat landscape that evolves faster than ever.
This 2.5 day workshop is designed for our IT folks who want emergent knowledge from cybersecurity professionals, threat hunters, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore the unseen challenges of our current digital age.
The interactive program will be a mix between hand-ons work and expert-led discussions, interactive exercises, and cutting-edge solutions. Together we’ll uncover how to protect our organizations from attacks lurking in the shadows.

Introduction to Python Programming
February 11: 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Live Online
This course provides an introduction to Python programming, focusing on foundational skills essential for software development. Participants will learn to set up and configure a development environment, manage project files, and test Python programs. Through practical application, they will explore key programming concepts, including control structures, data manipulation, and the use of Python data structures like Lists, Tuples, Dictionaries, and Sets. By the end of the course, participants will be able to develop Python applications that demonstrate problem-solving and programming proficiency.

Advanced Python: File Manipulation & Secure Data Transfer
February 18: 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Live Online
This course focuses on advanced Python programming skills for file handling and secure data transfer. Participants will learn to manipulate files by reading, writing, and processing data in various formats, leveraging libraries like Pandas for cleaning and organization. Additionally, the course covers automating file import/export tasks using the SFTP protocol, emphasizing secure practices and error handling. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to manage data efficiently and securely in Python-based applications.

A two-day session designed for administrative staff who have not previously loaded a master schedule in PowerScheduler, are new to scheduling concepts, or need extra assistance when setting up the parameters for their school.
To work hands-on in this course, your PowerSchool SIS instance should have some key items set up, such as courses, students, teachers, and possibly rooms.
Experience Level: Attendees should have completed PowerSchool SIS Initial Product Training. All attendees must be able to navigate PowerSchool SIS, work on their own, and understand the basics of scheduling terminology.
